Focus groups

A panel discussion, also known as a group interview or focus group, is a method for market research in which a group of users thoroughly discusses a concept for a new product, adjustments for an existing product, commercials or other expressions in various media. It is a qualitative way of conducting research, which can result in very valuable input for determining the market potential and the direction in which a product, service or communication should be developed.

Working method

2C invites customers, prospects or users of a product or service to discuss what appeals to them and how much it appeals to them.

In a group interview, for instance, the following questions may be discussed:

Then the opinions and expressions of interest of the users are inventoried. This process often produces clear suggestions and additions. 2C offers you the opportunity to attend the research yourself. We have a special room for panel discussion in which an interview with approximately 20 persons can be conducted. We would suggest about ten participants as a good number for a thorough group discussion.

When

You can conduct a group interview at the inception of an idea or concept for a new product, service or communication. In this way you can determine at an early stage whether the idea meets the target group’s expectations, is viable, understood and appreciated. At this stage, the market potential can be analyzed in a qualitative way as well.

Research time & deliverables

The time required to conduct a group interview takes about 2 weeks, from the time the participants are recruited until the delivery of the report. The results will be delivered in a report, which consists of all the discussed aspects as well as concrete and practical recommendations.
