Personas
You can focus your website, software or product on a few fictional users and still serve the complete group of users. This is possible with personas: descriptions of a few typical users of the website.
Advantages of persona’s:
- Cut down time and expenses
- More focus on user goals and user needs
- No influence of personal preferences on the design
- No misunderstanding about the characteristics of the end user
- Inspiration during designing or writing the content
- Simplify decision making

Working method
Although personas are fictional, they are based on the characteristics of real users. Different methods are available to determine these characteristics:
- Demographic data
- Analysing already known user data
- Conducting personal or group interviews
- Conducting surveys
When
When designing a website, software or product it is important that, from the beginning, the design is focussed on the end user. This can be accomplished by creating personas before the first design is made.
Research time & deliverables
The time for creating personas depends on the available information and the number of personas needed. On average, designing personas takes a few weeks. In most cases four to six personas are sufficient. The personas are delivered with a description and explanation about the described characteristics of the personality.
It is important that the personas are used within the organisation in the right way. For this purpose, 2C offers a Personas Workshop. This workshop supports successful designing, launching, implementating and using personas.
